Campbell Lab at ACSM 2019

Dr. Kristin Campbell and two members of her lab, Sarah Weller and Kendra Zadravec, travelled to Orlando, Florida at the end of May to attend the annual meeting for the American College of Sports Medicine.

Dr. Campbell spoke in a symposium reporting on results from the second ACSM Roundtable for Exercise and Cancer, which provided updated exercise recommendations for cancer survivors. Dr. Kerri Winters-Stone (Oregon Health and Science University, USA) and Dr. Joachim Wiskemann (Heidelberg University, Germany) also presented.

Sarah gave a Rapid-Fire talk titled “Improving Research Dissemination and Reach: Impact of a Daily Twitter Campaign in Exercise Oncology”. This was a follow-up to an initiative CEPL put on last year, where they shared a journal article on Twitter each day. Kendra presented a poster on exercise attendance and adherence results from the Exercise Influence on Taxane Side Effects trial.

Other highlights included watching the Exercise Oncology Dream Team take part in the Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge and viewing a screening of Phil’s Camino (http://philscamino.com/), an inspiring story of a man with Stage IV cancer who followed his dream of walking the 500-mile Camino trail in more way than one.
