Research

Research Goals

The Cancer Exercise & Physiotherapy Lab is focused on understanding the role of exercise in prevention, treatment and rehabilitation from chronic disease in humans, particularly cancer prevention, rehabilitation and survivorship.

Methods

The Cancer Exercise & Physiotherapy Lab uses a variety of tools for a multi-modal approach to research, such as a combination of a treadmill/cycle ergometer with a metabolic cart for cardiopulmonary exercise testing, a COSMED BOD POD for an accurate measurement of body composition, accelerometers for physical activity measurement, and various self-report questionnaire based tools to capture quality of life, physical activity, and fatigue. The lab also collaborates with other research labs to incorporate other methods and tools, such as an MRI.
