Congratulations to our Master of Science students, Negin Niksirat and Stanley Hung, for winning the Karen Hornbostel Memorial Award for the ACSM Cancer Special Interest Group!
On May 27 – 31, Amy, Negin and Stanley attended the 61st Annual Meeting for the American College of Sports Medicine held in Orlando, Florida. Negin and Stanley were awarded the Karen Hornbostel Travel Award for their excellent poster presentations.
Negin’s thematic poster presentation was titled “The Effect of Chemotherapy Treatment for Colon Cancer on Physical Function and Physical Activity”, and Stanley’s poster presentation was titled “Physical Function in Breast Cancer Survivors: A Systematic Review and Comparison to Healthy Normative Data.”
This will be the third and forth Karen Hornbostel Memorial Award for the Campbell Lab. Amy Kirkham and Sarah Neil also received the same award in the 2013 ACSM Annual Meeting.
The next ACSM 2015 Annual Meeting will be in San Diego, California.
